Activity Director

Reports to: Camp Program Manager and Camp Supervisor

Responsibilities:

  • To manage all activity areas (sports/games, art, praise, nature, etc.)
  • To supervise, encourage and support activity area coordinators.
  • To lead in the creation and maintenance of a positive atmosphere throughout camp.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a desire to minister to counselors and kids in a camp setting consistent with the goals, values and philosophy of Riverwoods.
  • Must have an acceptable level of spiritual, mental, social and emotional maturity.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Organizational abilities and creativity.
  • Supervisory/mentoring experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High energy and outgoing personality.

Expectations:

  • Follow all guidelines setup by Riverwoods, including the philosophy, goals and objectives of Riverwoods as well as any secondary procedures (dining hall, waterfront, etc.) and instructions.
  • Model Christ-likeness in all things. Your attitude toward activities, inconveniences, Bible studies and other people will in every way determine the attitude of staff and campers toward these things.
  • Your spiritual and physical health are crucial to your ministry, therefore you are expected to have personal devotions, get 6-8 hours of sleep nightly and participate in all relevant meetings.
  • Always be on time. If you are unable to be on time you must make your supervisor aware ahead of time.
  • Have fun! Balance organization and spontaneity to create lasting positive memories for staff and campers.
  • Assist with program evaluation at the end of each session and at the end of the summer.
  • Plan and guide weekly briefings and debriefings with activity coordinators.
  • Supervise and assist in all activities in your area of camp.
  • Pour into activity coordinators with your time, prayers, energy, assistance and encouragement – think about how you will intentionally do this throughout the summer.
  • Meet 1-on-1 weekly with each activity coordinator to listen to them, guide them and pray for them.
