Reports to:  Teen Programs Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • To assist with planning the teen program for which they are the director.
  • To counsel, supervise and lead the teen participants in their program.
  • To lead in the creation and maintenance of a positive atmosphere in their program.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a desire and maturity to minister to teens in a camp setting consistent with the goals, values and philosophy of Riverwoods.
  • Must have an acceptable level of spiritual, mental, social and emotional maturity.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Organizational abilities and creativity.
  • Must have supervisory/mentoring experience.

Expectations:

  • Manage and assist in the development of program events.
  • Maintain the safety of teens at all times and places.
  • Encourage and support teens with word and actions.
  • Follow all guidelines setup by Riverwoods, including the philosophy, goals and objectives of Riverwoods as well as any secondary procedures (dining hall, waterfront, etc.) and instructions.
  • Always be on time. If you are unable to be on time, you must make your supervisor aware ahead of time.
  • Model Christ-likeness in all things. Your attitude toward activities, inconveniences, Bible studies and other people will in every way determine the attitude of your campers toward these things.
  • Maintain the safety of teens at all times, placing their welfare and interest above your own.
  • Your spiritual and physical health are crucial to your ministry, therefore you are expected to have personal devotions, get 6-8 hours of sleep nightly, participate in service group meetings and use off-time for this purpose.
  • Have fun! Do all you can to balance organization and spontaneity to create lasting positive memories for teens.
  • Assist with program evaluation at the end of each session and at the end of the summer.
  • Plan and guide weekly briefings and debriefings with teens.
  • Instruct teens in Christ-likeness throughout the day, not just during Bible studies.
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Work with CPM to complete teen program planning.
